In 1867, C. Vanier, a bookseller-publisher in Paris, published a book titled Histoire chronologique du vêtement (homme) jadis et aujourd'hui suivie de l'art de se vêtir au XIXeme siècle (Chronological History of the Garment (Man) Formerly and Today followed by the Art of Dressing in the 19th Century).
