This marine painting depicts a lovely coastal view of cliffs with a small sailboat visible in the distance. Th artist's vantage point lends a sense of openness and elevation to the composition. A high bluff overlooks the quiet sea and hazy horizon. The forms are simplified yet effective, and the treatment of light has a gentle atmospheric quality. The work is signed David James, lower right and is presented in a swept giltwood frame. More research is needed on this talented artist. There is a Crescent Galleries label on the reverse.
