Rare double-sided vintage advertising sign from Japan promoting "Bon Curry" (ボンカレー) by Otsuka Foods.
This sign dates back to the 1960s and is a beautiful example of Showa-era advertising design.
Dimensions: Height 60 cm, Width 40 cm, Depth 5 cm
The image features a woman in a kimono pouring a serving of curry over a bowl of rice – an iconic scene that symbolized the convenience and modern lifestyle of instant meals at the time. Bon Curry was the world’s first ready-made curry product, launched in 1968.
The metal sign is designed to be mounted perpendicular to a wall (corner-style), allowing it to be visible from both sides. One side has faded significantly due to prolonged sun exposure, while the other side remains more vibrant and clearly displays the original design.
The sign can be mounted either flat against a surface or projecting from a wall; mounting holes are provided along the edges.
A unique and characterful wall decoration from the Showa era – perfect for fans of retro Japanese design, advertising history, or kitchen interiors with a twist.
Condition: Authentic aging, one side faded, minor rusting along the edges – see photos.
