With our absolute highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques takes the utmost pleasure in offering this remarkable antique file cabinet. The entire file cabinet is constructed with a premium grade of tiger oak lumber that has a beautiful medium golden or amber oak finish. With some exposure to daylight the color illuminates the bold quartersawn tiger oak grain bringing out the full depth of beauty that this file offers. The case is designed with a raised panel structure on the back and for both side panels which allow the frame and wooden panels to gradually adjust to seasonal changes. The "Cope and Stick" profiled joinery selected to bring the raised panel frames together is the strongest technique known for building frames. The materials and techniques used to build this file cabinet contribute to making it one of the finest examples that can be found anywhere.
This antique file cabinet retains the original brass label which identifies Library Bureau Sole Makers as the original maker. We seek out every oak file cabinet we can find from this company. These file cabinets are among our most popular offerings as they nearly always find their way into a wonderful home quickly. We have had the privilege of having owned many of these file cabinets in the past and with all confidence we can say that they will work effortlessly for many years to come. The four drawers have retained the original brass hardware with the lower three drawers each having three index plates which contributes to the exceptional form and style of this cabinet.
The antique oak file cabinet measures 27" wide x 20 3/4" deep x 51 3/4" tall. The upper two drawers have interior space openings that measure 12" wide x 24" deep x 10 3/4" tall. The lower two drawers have interior storage spaces that measure 15 1/4" wide x 24 1/2" deep x 10 3/4" tall.
