Each piece in this collection is a unique reimagining of traditional designs and antique rugs in one of the most luxurious new qualities and high knot counts available today. This particular rug—entitled “Shekar”—enjoys a large-scale circular medallion in the center and is bedecked with animal pictorials including a leopard, deer, rabbit, a bird, and an eagle carrying prey. These pictorials remain true to the title, “Shekar”, which translates to the act of hunting, though connoisseurs may further admire references to the Persian legend of Simurgh’; a bird featured in many epic poems, folk tales, and legends, considered to be the king and queen of all birds and a benevolent guardian of the natural world.
