A whimsical pair of mid-century wall-mounted ceramic towel holders shaped like white geese or ducks. Made in Japan circa 1950s–60s, these charming novelty pieces feature glass bright red eyes, smooth glossy glaze, and molded details. Designed to hold hand towels or tea towels or robes, they bring a touch of retro farmhouse charm to any kitchen, bath, or mudroom.
Stamped “JAPAN” on the reverse, these towel holders are as functional as they are collectible.
These came from different molds as you can see as you compare each side by side photo. They still read as a pair, with just slight variations. One has a scuff on its beak, and a circular flaw behind its head which looks like a tool mark from manufacturing. One doesn’t sit completely flat, flaw in manufacturing. There is one flea bite chip behind head.
