Following on from Near East published two years earlier, Far East continues the story of Beaton's work and experience as a war photographer working for the Ministry of Information. The book covers his travels to India, Burma and China. Whilst there he took photographs of the locals, the landscape and the military, many of which are reproduced here. These are supplemented by Beaton's rich descriptions of these countries, their people and his wartime experiences. His accomplished line drawings appear throughout the text.
