This pattern is based on a Roman design discovered in the excavation of Pompeii in the 1600s. The gilt chased three-dimensional vine leaves decorated with sprigs of berries lend a beautiful aura to the piece. The glow of the vine leaves and berries contrast nicely with the expertly rendered technique of the background. Fabricated in the finest manner as by Thomire & Cie. of Paris. See less
