Fleming started … Read more California self-taught artist JoAnne Fleming, (American, b. 1930), painted this wonderful portrait of a woman wearing a hat. Fleming started painting back in the early 80’s. She typically paints only women. She has painted a few cows and one male subject, otherwise it’s women. She also paints in the manner of the late and famous artist Milton Avery although not intentionally. (See photo of Avery’s work in the additional photos provided).

This painting of a lady was painted in oil on canvas, it is by signed on the back, plus in the front lower right, "JF". Fleming had a one-women art exhibition at Colin Fisher Studios in Cathedral City, CA. Unquestionably her work is widely collected. This painting is not framed, but looks great as is.
