His unique background in graphic and media design gives him what he calls "a certain edge" when approaching the canvas, distinguishing him from traditional fine art pathways.
Aitken's raw, intuitive process combines layering, distressing, and blending techniques to create rich, multifaceted surfaces, often incorporating repurposed canvas off-cuts and drawing inspiration from music, urban textures, and his evolving palette of greens, blues, and pinks.
His international recognition includes being named one of Saatchi Art's top 20 emerging artists to watch in 2020, leading to BBC and ITV coverage, while his exhibition history spans solo shows in Madrid, group exhibitions across Europe and the US, participation in Art Basel, and inclusion in the Soho House art collection. With works held in private collections globally and enriched by residencies in Tuscany and Central London, Aitken has established himself as a prominent voice among Britain's new generation of contemporary artists.
