Ceramic sculpture, wall mask, glazed with majolica, entirely hand-decorated, depicting the face of a woman with flowers, signed on the back "La Fiamma Italy", catalog number "316". Made by the Ligurian manufactures of Albisola "La Fiamma" by Ivos Pacetti. Beautiful ancient patina. Datable around 1930-1935. Note the beautiful effect obtained with the partial enameling: hair, flowers, eyelids and lips enameled and glazed with third firing, complexion of the face made with rough and porous enamel and left opaque.
Useful information for the evaluation of the object:
This manufacture boasts numerous auction results, vases estimated at very high prices, such as €7,000-8,000. Through some research we found a mask very similar to ours, entitled "Masked female head (c.1930)", Lot No. 24, dated 01/12/2020 at Cambi Casa d'Aste in Milan, Italy, 29 centimeters high including the ceramic base, so we are talking about a mask that in terms of volume is smaller than ours which is the same height, but without any base, estimated at €1,500 - €1,800. Then we found another one listed at €2,500 at the auction of 11/04/2011 at Boetto in Genoa, lot No. 565, entitled "Face of Greta Garbo from the film Queen Christina (1930)". All this to give an idea of the value of the ceramics made by Ivos Pacetti and specifically of auctions similar to ours.
(By googling the data of the objects indicated by us, especially the title of the auction or sale listing in the same language used by us, the date, the lot number and the auction house or the name of the sales site, you will be able, most of the time, to find and see the objects mentioned).
Information on the artist and/or manufacturer:
The manufacturer for the production of artistic ceramics "La Fiamma" was founded by Ivos Pacetti, who was also its artistic director in 1929. It has participated in numerous important events, both Italian and international, and has often won the gold medal, the sculptor Agenore Fabbri and Nino Strada collaborate with this manufacturer. In the 1930s, numerous déco and rationalist style ceramics and some works inspired by futurism came out of Pacetti's workshop, but in any case all the products of this manufacturer are always of high quality both technically and formally.
