Antoni Tàpies is considered one of the most significant Spanish artists of the 20th century and is one of the main exponents of European informal art. His work combines matter, signs and symbols, often with a strong spiritual and political value. He used poor materials (sand, marble dust, paper, fabrics) and graphic signs to create dense, evocative and tactile surfaces.
In this graphic the background is a field of uniform and dense color. The work is made with the etching, aquatint and carborundum printing technique: a technique that is used to create a relief matrix that, through pressure, transfers the ink onto the paper, producing an image with particular textures and tones. In the lower part you can find graphic signs, typical of Tàpies's work.
The sheet measures 63x75 cm and with the frame 68x79.5x5.5 cm. There is the signature at the bottom right and on the left the edition 96/99.
The state of preservation is very good, with only slight wear due to age and use. The sheet is fixed at the four corners on a rigid cardboard panel and has slight three-dimensional deformations.
