It represents Byakue Kannon – the “White-Robed Kannon,” one of the 33 manifestations of Kannon Bosatsu, the Bodhisattva of compassion and protection. In Buddhist tradition, she is venerated as a guardian against illness, a bringer of fertility, and a source of aid during safe childbirth.

Dimensions: height 30 cm, width 10 cm, depth 9 cm.

This figure depicts her in a graceful, meditative posture, with flowing, finely pleated robes and a serene facial expression. The subtle gesture of her hands and the attention to detail imbue the piece with a quiet strength and spiritual presence. Made in Japan during the Taishō period (circa 1920s), it bears a clear maker’s mark on the underside: 鳳子 (“Hōshi”).
