Huge, majestic partially gilded bronze bust with marble base. Depicting a young Neapolitan water or wine carrier with flasks on his shoulders, signed "V. Cinque" on the back. Made in full Art Nouveau style, dating from between the late 19th century and the early decades of the 20th century. The patina covering the entire sculpture is beautiful. The patinated part in various shades of burnished brown was created chemically, while the gilded part appears to have been made with mercury rather than electroplating, as the gold is straw yellow in color, albeit opaque due to the thick antique patina, but it is not the yellow-orange gilding obtained with electroplating processes. The two flasks on the boy's shoulders are noteworthy, joined together by a braided cord that rests on his back. An imposing and very beautiful sculpture, considering that we are talking about 50 centimeters in height and over 15 kg in weight.
