This impressive Belgian sideboard from the 1970s powerfully embodies the brutalist aesthetic applied to storage furniture. Crafted in solid oak, it stands out for its sculpted front with raised geometric motifs, composed of a series of carved squares that create a strong and perfectly balanced graphic rhythm.
The craftsmanship is remarkable, with solid proportions, clean lines, and sharply articulated volumes. This model displays all the characteristics of the work of De Coene Frères, the renowned Belgian manufacturer known for its sculptural solid wood pieces with modernist design. However, as it bears no maker’s mark, we prefer to remain cautious regarding its exact attribution.
The sideboard features five hinged doors opening onto a spacious storage area divided by adjustable internal shelves, combining aesthetics with functionality.
This piece is presented in exceptional condition. It has never been used. Only two minimal marks attest to its transport: a micro-restored trace on the lower part of the base, and an almost invisible scratch (less than half a millimetre) on the top surface. Overall, for a piece of this age, it is in near mint condition.
A rare sideboard, both monumental and refined, ideal for a dining room, a structured living space, or a collector’s interior. This is a true collector’s piece whose value will continue to increase over time.
