Renato Guttuso was one of the most important Italian painters of the 20th century.
The work is a lithograph made in etching and aquatint around the 1960s and represents one of his famous paintings made in 1951/52: The Battle of Ponte dell’Ammiraglio.
Of this work, Guttuso made 150 prints with Arabic numerals, 50 with Roman numerals and 20 as artist’s proofs. This is print XXII/L, the numbering reported at the bottom left of the sheet. At the bottom right is the author’s signature. The scene represents the popular uprising that took place in Palermo in 1860, during Garibaldi’s Expedition of the Thousand. A dynamic and crowded composition.

The state of conservation is good, it has a contemporary frame measuring 171x114x5 cm.
