Timeless black-stained bentwood counter-height stools, sold in a set of five. Michael Thonet perfected the bentwood technique to create a line of chairs and stools that define the look of European cafe culture. Walk into any number of restaurants in New York, Paris, Vienna, and Prague and you will recognize the backless counter stool by Ton, model 73. The stools are made of beechwood in the Czech Republic and were distributed in the US by Design Within Reach. The stools feature a foot rail across all four legs for comfort and versatility.
The provenance of the stools is stamped on the side and bottom of the stools. Reference pictures for more detail. Felt pads were added to the bottoms to reduce the chance of scratching hardwood floors. Purchased in 2016 and sold by the original owner.

Several seats exhibit cracks in the paint, another has a small chip in the finish, and most have a little wear on the sides of the seats. All issues are easily remedied,, or just leave the stools as they are and appreciate the decorative patina. less
