Offered is a mid 20th Century chess set, including a hand-crafted maple and walnut wood inlay heavy slab board with 31 Duncan Ceramics Bisque game pieces in their Gothic pattern - however, one of the brown pawns is missing.
The board has a brown felted wool base and a hardware fixture to hang it on a wall. The Duncan Ceramics pieces were quite well known throughout the 1960s and 1970s, and came in different themes with whimsical designs. They were made in different finishes such as porcelain or glazed ceramic, or these which are a mottled resin. Others were sold in kits unfinished in order to be painted at home.
The board measures 15" square by 1" deep
Pieces measure from 3" tall (pawns) to 4" tall King.

The pieces had some loose felt on their undersurface, but we've reattached them, and one of the brown pawns is missing. Any wear is commensurate with its age and past usage. If we find the same missing piece, we will re-list this accordingly. less
