It was sculpted by Claudio Crestale, who used Vicenza stone to create this graceful and elegant dancer. Claudio's skills can be seen by the soft cuts that depict the ballerina's flowing fabric of her dress. The dancer seems to be a young ballerina, by the shortness of the legs, young face, hands, and torso. She dances gracefully, her hair pulled back severely into a bun at the nape of her neck. Her toe shoes have ribbons and she stands up with arched feet and her squared off toe shoes dancing on air.
The collector met the artist and bought this ballerina sculpture piece from him in Padua, Italy. The sculptor was/is proficient in stone cutting, and his works reflect his talent. His storage area was his front yard and the neighbors' gardens.
We have added a few more pictures of this piece, the dancing ballerina, to bring more appreciation to the work. GIven a closer look we can see the sculptor's finesse with delicately carving her hands, fingers, and wrists as she dances Also, the 3-d look is enhanced by carving her skirt that is floating as she dances.
