A finely painted Chinese export porcelain cider mug, dating to the Qianlong period (1736–1795), richly decorated in the vibrant famille rose mandarin palette. Standing 5 inches tall, the cylindrical form features a continuous figural court scene framed by cobalt-blue floral scrollwork and lattice borders—classic hallmarks of mid-18th century famille rose wares made for the European market.
The figures are depicted in lively interaction across a garden terrace, their robes rendered in vivid enamel tones of rose, turquoise, and emerald. Architectural elements, including a red-tiled pavilion and balustrades, add both depth and narrative structure to the composition. The handle is elegantly shaped and retains its original 18th-century firing.
Mugs of this type were highly prized in England and the American colonies for their combination of functionality and exotic appeal. This piece reflects the apex of Qing dynasty export porcelain—where technical mastery met European taste.
