When he was gone, this stovetop coffee pot from Alessi kept showing up for duty like an old friend: perky, consistent, and a little shiny around the edges.

Designed by Aldo Rossi for Alessi, this vintage “La Cupola” espresso maker is an icon of Italian postmodern design. Its aluminum body is topped with a domed lid and a cheerful blue ball that’s somewhere between Bauhaus and gelato. The handle is the same shade—a cool sky blue—and still firmly affixed for all your stovetop adventures.

Although I’ve used it only sparingly (espresso is for memories, not routines), it does bear the gentle hallmarks of an overzealous polishing session. The result? A little extra shimmer and a lot of character.

Excellent working condition. For decor, coffee, or sentimental Italian flashbacks.
