(1927–2010; GA) A native of Oglethorpe County, Annie Wellborn is known for her paintings of rural life, family, and childhood. At first glance, her art appears to be straightforward depictions of life on a family farm. However, Annie was also a visionary artist. Like many Southern folk artists, she believed she had been called to paint so that others could come to know God. From childhood, Annie experienced frequent visions, often of angels and fireballs in the sky.
