An extremely rare, beautiful set of 12 water glasses, made of thick, translucent, molded-pressed crystal, decorated with cold-cut motifs. Each glass rests on a beveled octagonal base (added and heat-welded), adorned with a protruding chiseled rosette, and featuring an imposing molded relief decoration of large stylized palms and feathers on its bowl.
Designed and produced for Henri d'Orléans, known as the Duke of Aumale, son of Louis-Philippe, King of France. The palms and feathers on the bowl of the glasses refer to and pay homage to the Duke's brilliant military career. A fairly rare model on the market, interesting for its technique and historical dimension (French history, royalty, etc.).
Antique glasses, circa 1870-1890, unsigned, but a known and documented model. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
