A reimagined Sphinx-like figure, central within the landscape, this symbolic and enigmatic guardian and its environment is represented in vivid primary colors, with bursts of fluorescent tones, illuminating the connection between ages past and future's arrival.

BIOGRAPHY

As a native New Yorker, Joe Ginsberg studied painting and sculpture from an early age. Inspired by the tides of nature, his paintings are frequently created outdoors, incorporating and reflecting the effects of prolonged exposure to the elements. His works often weather naturally, revealing the unexpected, organic disposition of environmental chemistry, reflecting earth’s natural patina and patterns of time. What he refers to as “Electric Nature.” Robert Mahoney, a veteran art critic observed “If his images seem to want to jump off the canvas, it is because they have been worked on by nature herself … the weathering works like a decorative enzyme that encourages tidal surges of mirages”
Joe Ginsberg studied textile design at Fashion Institute of Technology, graphic design at The School of Visual Arts, filmmaking at NYU and printmaking at Pratt Institute where he went on to teach this medium as well.
