la società ceramica italiana s.p.a. Was a ceramics factory founded in laveno-mombello in 1856 by three former employees of the milanese ceramics factory richard, carlo caspani, alessandro carnelli and severino revelli, founded the società ceramica c.c.r., inside the disused building of a glass factory near the lake north of laveno. The aim of the new industry was the industrial-scale production of low-cost earthenware for domestic use.
in 1883 the factory took on the name destined to become famous società ceramica italiana s.p.a. While, in 1885 revelli left the s.c.i. To found the società ceramica revelli, specializing in the production of semi-strong earthenware. The san michele department was incorporated into the plant called "lago" in 1898. Electricity was introduced through the installation of a small turbine at the mulino boesio.
from 1896 to 1916, the company was managed by tommaso bossi, who was succeeded by his son-in-law, engineer luciano scotti, mayor of laveno in the decade from 1924 to 1934. In 1925-1926, the "mulini" factory was built by the architect piero portaluppi in the boesio area[3], the only one still existing although in a state of decay. The three factories (lago, ponte and boesio) were connected to each other by a narrow-gauge "decauville" railway for the transport of materials.
on the occasion of the inauguration of the first international exhibition of decorative art, held at the villa reale in monza in 1923, the servizio reale service for the house of savoy was created. In 1925, the young guido andloviz was appointed artistic director, destined to become a famous designer, so much so that he competed with richard-ginori, with gio ponti as artistic director, for the primacy of ceramic art in italy. In 1931 the "verbano" factory opened for the production of table porcelain. In 1965 it merged with richard-ginori. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
