This piece is from a body of … Read more Geometric abstract painting made in 2020 by Amanda Andersen, initialed on the back. This piece is from a body of work inspired by ordinary object arrangements such as table-top still lives. The objects were simplified drastically into outlines, overlapping each other to form a unifying connection. This was all hand painted and none of the lines are perfectly straight, lending it character.
This piece has a brown background with thin lined shape outlines in cloud blue, yellow, orange, pink and purple.

Acrylic and gouache paint on thick, acid free, archival paper.
The paper has an unfinished sketch on the back.

About the artist: Amanda Andersen has been a professional artist for over 10 years; working mostly in acrylic paint on canvas. Her work balances minimal compositions with bold, high-contrast patterns and vibrant colors, navigating a space between the abstract and figurative. Inspired by the rigid lines of Agnes Martin and organic forms of Eva Hesse, she also adores fantasy films, surrealism, brutalist architecture and a really smooth gradient. Her work has shown internationally, including: the Kunstraum Kreuzberg in Berlin, Tiny Creatures in Los Angeles, the National Centre for Contemporary Arts State Museum in St Petersburg. Her work has been featured in Art Review, Art Kunstmagazin and is held in many private collections including the MOMA Art Library and MACBA Barcelona.
