This handcrafted kilim originates from Anatolia and was crafted around 1950—but its effect is timeless. The luminous, deep color palette of ocher, indigo, wine red, sage, black, and ivory allows it to shine in both clean-lined Bauhaus interiors and eclectic bohemian ensembles, Art Deco spaces, or even in the floral context of Art Nouveau. Its formal language embraces various eras without committing to one style.
The multi-layered diamonds, intricately handwoven and finely embroidered, take center stage. Each shape is a fragment of lived symbolism: ancient protective signs, abstracted natural forms, amulets—handed down from nomadic culture to banish, bless, or remind of the forces of the world. The rug invites you to decipher its patterns—or simply allow yourself to be carried away by their ornamental power.
Due to its exceptionally fine workmanship and textile depth, this piece is ideal as a wall hanging. It could also be used as a floor rug – for example, in quiet, less frequented areas. But it's almost too good for that: its delicate structure deserves to be seen and appreciated – more a work of art than a utility object.
This handcrafted kilim originates from Anatolia and was made around 1950 – yet its presence is timeless. The luminous, profound color palette of ochre, indigo, wine red, sage, black, and ivory allows it to shine in both strict Bauhaus interiors and eclectic Bohemian ensembles, Art Deco rooms, or even the floral elegance of Jugendstil. Its visual language resonates across eras – without belonging to one.
At its core lie layered diamond motifs, intricately woven and delicately embroidered by hand. Each shape holds a fragment of lived symbolism: ancient protection signs, abstracted nature, amulets – passed down through nomadic culture to shield, bless, or remind. This kilim invites you to decipher its codes – or simply be carried by their ornamental power.
Its exceptional craftsmanship and textile depth make this piece ideal as a wall hanging. It can be used as a floor rug – especially in calm, low-traffic areas – but it almost seems too precious for that. Its refined structure deserves to be seen and treasured – more artwork than object.
