vico magistretti is considered a driving force of italian design from the 1960s onwards. Born in milan as the son of an architect, magistretti fled to switzerland during world war ii, where he met ernesto nathan rogers, co-founder of the bbpr. Returning to milan, he studied architecture and worked for his father's architectural firm. After the war, he began designing modernist furniture and is still considered one of italy's most esteemed designers, particularly distinguished by his clarity of form.
