Folded the game … Read more Offered is a regency style Mahogany Card Table with hinged semi circular shape, on tapering fluted legs. Folded the game table, makes an impressive console. Opened to a diameter of 36” it displays a magnificent curly mahogany surface with fabulous book matched inlaid veneers making up the central medallion. There is a distressed maker's label on the underside where"Mersman" can still be partially made out. Incredible carvings with bell flowers grace the front all standing over delicate fluted legs. The hardware and construction suggest that this piece is from the 1940’s or 1950’s. Mersman was making high quality mahogany furniture during this period. Closed this would make an impressive foyer or console table and do double duty as a game table when needed. There is even a secret drawer inside of the rear leg for your game pieces. If you’re looking for an impressive game table in the regency style this could be it. As with most pieces of preowned furniture this table does show some signs of use commensurate with use and age. It has an older refinish and there is an old stamp on the underside of the drawer by a refinisher in Lewistown Pa. Trim around the apron was loose at the ends and has been put back into place.
