Le Jeune Soldat Americain by Georges Scott a renowned French war artist.
Georges Scott was a highly regarded war artist, when the Great War broke out he was immediately mobilised into the French army. He was highly regarded, producing works that were inspiring and patriotic.
He met with General Pershing who was so taken with his works, General Pershing asked him if he could produce patriotic artwork for America as well, amongst others he produced was this one.
Truly great drawing.
His works were incredibly realistic and accurate regarding conditions at the front. Most of the time he was working from memory, rough sketches and black and white photographs.
This is an original 100 year old plus, black and white printed page, it was sourced from a damaged 1917 French journal and is dated December 1917.
