Wounded Scottish officer Sur Le Front Britannique Georges Scott a renowned French war artist
The wounded Scottish officer is being escorted back from the front by two of his colleagues. The detail is quite incredible.
When the Great War broke out Georges Scott was immediately mobilised into the French army. He was a highly regarded artist-illustrator producing works that were inspiring and patriotic.
His works were incredibly realistic and accurate regarding conditions at the front. Most of the time he was working from memory, rough sketches and black and white photographs.
This is an original 100 year old black and white printed page, it was sourced from a damaged 1917 French journal.
It is set on a white border which has some slight age foxing but the actual printed sketch is in excellent condition for its age.
