A striking pair of vintage French ceramic candle holders dating from the mid century. They were created in the art pottery studios of the renowned Keraluc company in the town of Quimper in France. The large candlesticks have been hand painted with bold modernist floral patterns in rich autumnal shades. They feature large and deep bowls for holding a large pillar candle and have a spike in the center to support a thick candle. The undersides have been hand signed by the pottery artist and feature the Keraluc maker's name.
The Keraluc pottery studios were established in 1946 by Victor Lucas in Quimper. They were acclaimed for their innovative interpretation of ceramic production in France. The company stopped production and closed in the 1980s.
