Additionally exceptional in this piece is the emphasis on cartouche patterns in the floral field design, typically relegated to the meandering borders of 17th-19th Century Aubusson rugs with exception found in distinctive inspirations similar to this 18th-Century Aubusson style; a very regal, graceful play of a rich red and gold with a neoclassical juxtaposition of cream and blue notes in the geometry. The columns created in the repetition bring out the attention to stylistic definition in the European floral patterns and the skillful movement and control born through the seamless transition of color through the graph; a remarkable array of the ideal traits celebrated in the Aubusson flat weave family.
