Suberb Japanese Urushi Lacquer Painting Takaoka Lacquer, Representing Two Dancers from the Noh Theatre by Multi Award Winning Artist Toshio Kusada (1937-2020) Using Maki-e Tecnique.
.Maki-e represents the most sophisticated technique in lacquer art, where dust of gold or silver particles are delicately sprinkled on still wet lacquer, usually black, to create the pattern. The powder embedded between each layer of lacquer helps to bring out the decorations by illuminating them. The Japanese invention of Maki-e in its various firms represents one of the most remarkable marriages of technical mastery and aesthetic sophistication in art history.
