For sale is a pair of polychromed and gilded architectural fragments in the form of carved wood column capitals., featuring a lotus design.
They are Southeast Asian, possibly Balinese.
They are 7-1/4” diameter at the widest point, and 7-1/2” high.
The colors are red and black, with gilding on the lotus leaves.
The tops and bottoms reveal the construction and how they were previously attached to the column and building.
Zoom in to verify the condition. There are some chips and paint losses, as would be expected.
I don’t know the age, but I have had them for fifty years. They were occasionally used as candle pedestals. See photo.
