He completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown. Curiously, as a young man, Tikal didn't show much interest in drawing; his first drawing appeared in the seventh grade of secondary school, in a math notebook. His restless temperament, imagination, and irony are already reflected in his earliest surviving drawings. After completing high school, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade, where he still lives and works. He is a member of the ULUS. He describes himself as nostalgic and solitary, but also a true hedonist and optimist. On a broader, European scale, Mihajlo Đoković Tikal's painting can be classified as neo-surrealism. He belongs to that group of artists who, within the framework of classical painting, borrowed only certain details from nature to provide themselves and the observer with a more secure footing. However, the true source of his interest and creative outlet will be the free journey of his imagination through the unexplored expanses of the subconscious, that is, esotericism.
