A striking and colorful double-sided enamel advertising sign from the Showa period (ca. 1950–70), originating from Japan.
Dimensions: Height: 30 cm, Width: 45.5 cm
The sign advertises the flavor enhancer Asahi Aji (あさひあじ / 旭味), produced by Asahi Kasei (旭化成).
The design features playful, period-typical typography in vibrant red and white lettering, highlighted by a cheerful cartoon figure – a yellow chick wearing a chef’s hat. The bold use of primary colors — yellow, red, and blue — makes this sign a true eye-catcher, perfect for a vintage kitchen, a collector’s space, or as a decorative accent in a contemporary interior.
Equipped with two practical mounting holes along the top edge, the sign is in beautiful vintage condition, with light signs of wear consistent with its age. This piece has an attribution mark,
