it is a pleasant still life, representing a bouquet of pink irises and gerberas of various colors in a decorated

ceramic vase with a statuette and an embroidered white tablecloth next to it.

the canvas painting is signed on the lower left j. Stappers, belgian painter of still lifes and flower paintings.

julien stappers (1875-1960) is a belgian painter who painted mainly flowers and still lifes with remarkable results.

he studied at the academy of fine arts in antwerp and then exhibited his works in brussels.

it should be noted that the oil painting has a carved and lacquered wooden frame contemporary with the painting.

the oil painting and the frame are carefully and professionally restored.
