Wooten Desk Co., Indianapolis, Indiana, Pat. Oct 6, 1874. This brass tag is attached to the front right side door denoted when and where it was made. The Company itself was only in business from 1874-1890. This is the Roosevelt Model, which was the top of the line. It is as beautiful and impressive a piece of furniture as you can find. And it can certainly still be used in today's world.
This desk was brought from Indianapolis, Indiana to Cripple Creek, CO. by mule team. There it remained until the 2000s when it was transported to Colorado Springs, CO. This desk comes with a great provenance and history. It was, as best we can tell from papers left in the desk, used by a Federal Court Judge or a District Attorney in Cripple Creek. It was apparently used during a murder trial and has some photos and paperwork indicating the same. (The paperwork will be available as soon as I locate it as I have moved from CO to TX and it is currently in transfer boxes.)
The condition I would rate as very good. Doors open and close easily. The internal desk board, decorated with a wonderful Eastlake design, opens easily and the two state of the art levels that open automatically, functions perfectly. The door locks for secure paperwork and information. The key is of course with the desk. It has castors on the feet for easier movement. There are some scratches and dings here and there but only shows life of the desk. Nothing at all that detracts from the beauty of the piece.

When the doors are closed it measures 42". Just normal bumps and scratches from moving but very minor. Interior of the desk shows where someone worked at the desk with wood that has been lightened by daily use at one time. Only one slight area on the top right where it appears a very small piece of veneer may be missing because the wood is lighter than the rest of the darker wood. I'm talking about maybe an inch square. less
