Self Portrait of Infamous French Expressionist Painter George Rouault, and considered one of the greatest paintings of the 20th Century in the art world. Titled "The Workman's Apprentice".
This is an extremely curious piece - and I am researching my heart out, as I am not an art expert, nor do I pretend to be. With that said, this isn't at all a normal print on board, this is not a poster or modern day print. This is a mid century reproduction (obviously) of a masterpiece.. the thing that makes it curious is the details of it.
The size of it alone.. is unique, not just for the period in time, but seems as far as I can tell, Rouault's actual engravings and etchings were done in THIS size, but is not a size normally found in reproductions (especially modern) of this painting. So you have that. Along with the vivid colors on this piece - deep and rich - NOT faded and NOT worn. Its also NOT behind glass, which, is a bit odd, though this may have taken a tumble in its life and the glass is simply missing in action. It has a FEW spots of "wear" or "damage" I'm sure some would call it - there are a few spots of What I can only call "flecks" of ink missing - almost like "chipping" - but this isn't painted. SEE, its curious!?! Can I call this a Aquatint, or a Intaglio - I'm not sure. I've studied and researched both is piece as well as Rouault's reproduction prints - this one is not seen anywhere else - NOT in this size or condition.

- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final
