An elegant framed ink rubbing of Lanting Xu, the famed Preface to the Poems Composed at the Orchid Pavilionby Wang Xizhi (303–361 CE), China’s most celebrated calligrapher. This classical text is widely regarded as one of the greatest masterpieces of Chinese calligraphy. This rubbing is taken from a Tang dynasty copy and features expressive semi-cursive (xingshu) script on blackened paper.
Presented under glass in a closed-corner custom frame with silk brocade matting. The text is legibly rendered and features the title and inscription in the left margin indicating its origin as a Tang-style rubbing.
