Cavalier cedar chest, manufactured in Chattanooga, Tennessee, mid-20th century. This solid, well-crafted piece features the original Cavalier brass nameplate inside and retains its cedar-lined interior, ideal for storing blankets, linens, or keepsakes.
What sets this chest apart is its folk-art style painted finish in deep mustard yellow with blue accents and a dramatic crackled texture—likely added decades ago to give it a rustic, farmhouse feel. A hand-painted "B" is painted directly below the lock latch. The finish has a beautiful patina with wear in all the right places, making it a perfect statement piece for an entryway, bedroom, or cottage.
