De sede ds-600 ‘snake’ sofa in patinated cream leather, 13 elements, switzerland, 1972 : a true icon of 20th-century design, the de sede ds-600 sectional sofa, also known as the “snake,” was conceived in 1972 by ueli berger, eleonore peduzzi-riva, heinz ulrich, and klaus vogt for de sede, switzerland. This exceptional example features 13 modular segments, fully articulated and linked by an internal connective system that allows the sofa to flex into endless configurations—whether sweeping curves, soft angles, or a linear form. Upholstered in beautifully patinated cream leather, each segment is generously padded, offering luxurious comfort and sculptural appeal. The natural wear on the leather adds character and authenticity, while the dark brown felted base contrasts elegantly with the upholstery and emphasizes the sofa’s rhythm and form. With a total length of 325 cm, this 13-piece configuration is ideal for substantial living areas, creative studios, or statement commercial environments.
the seat height of 39 cm ensures relaxed yet supportive lounging. The ds-600 is celebrated worldwide as one of the most flexible and visionary seating systems ever created—featured in major design museums and consistently sought after by collectors and designers alike. Its modularity, visual drama, and ergonomic comfort make it not only a masterpiece of engineering but also a functional sculpture that defines the space it inhabits.
