This Space Age beauty is made of a chrome-plated metal arch and a metal sphere (brown on the outside, white on the inside), which lies freely in a metal ring and can therefore be placed in any position.
The arch is held by a sleek chrome wall plate with two chrome screws and transparent acrylic holders, making it adjustable in height.
The lamp is rotatable and adjustable in many ways (using the metal swival arm and sphere) and can easily be turned in different directions. This allows the lamp to provide direct light (ideal as a reading lamp), but also indirectly by shining the lamp towards the wall.

This type of mushroom lamps were made in the 60s/70s by the well-known Dutch lighting manufacturers Dijkstra, Raak, Gepo and Herda. These iconic lamps, in a typical Mid Century Atomic / Space Age design, are characterised by a sphere in the well-known ‘mushroom’ shape executed in acrylic or metal.
The lamp presented here is a very rare model attributed to Gepo (based on design, not marked).
Founded in 1965 in Amsterdam by the Posthuma brothers, Gepo (short for Gebroeders Posthuma) was a Dutch family business known for its striking Space Age lighting. The brand specialized in floor, wall, table, and arc lamps with a distinctive minimalist aesthetic.
Gepo lamps are easily recognized by their chrome finishes, transparent drilled acrylic glass suspensions, and clean, futuristic lines. These unique design elements have made Gepo a favorite among collectors and vintage design lovers.
Today, original Gepo pieces remain highly sought-after and are considered true icons of mid-century Dutch design.

Due to its rarity and iconic, timeless design this wall lamp is a real collector’s item and will truly be an eye-catcher in your interior!

Condition: the lamp works properly and is in excellent vintage condition with some minor signs of use/age (some scratches/paint damage and a very small dent on the globe).
