Created in 1922 by Lyon-based engineer Joseph Mathieu, the Multipl's chair is an iconic model made of stamped metal, designed for the Société industrielle des meubles Multipl's. Initially intended for café terraces, public gardens, and luxury restaurants, it quickly became popular in cafeterias and hospitals. Stackable, lightweight, durable, and industrially produced, it supplanted curved wood models like those of the Thonet brothers. Its technical and bold design, reminiscent of a Meccano set, earned it international recognition at the 1928 Stuttgart exhibition. This piece has an attribution mark,
