A glass dish from the Domino series designed by the Swedish glass artist Bertil Vallien (born 1938) for Kosta Boda. Square in shape with slightly upturned corners, this dish has a silver tone heart design with wavy lines at the center. Marked with a “Kosta Boda” sticker to the front, the dish is also marked “Kosta Boda B. Vallien” to the underside.
Bertil Vallien is a highly respected glass artist and designer. In the 1950s, he studied under Stig Lindberg at the art school Konstfack in Stockholm. Best known for his work at Kosta Boda, Vallien is celebrated for sand casted sculptures. Many of these sculptures have the repeated motif faces.
