Square in shape with slightly upturned corners, this dish was made in Sweden and has a human figure design with round bumpy texture and silver leaf brushed to the center. Marked with a “Kosta Boda” sticker to the front, the dish is also marked “Kosta Boda B. Vallien 70015” to the underside.

Bertil Vallien is a highly respected glass artist and designer. In the 1950s, he studied under Stig Lindberg at the art school Konstfack in Stockholm. Best known for his work at Kosta Boda, Vallien is celebrated for sand casted sculptures. Many of these sculptures have the repeated motif faces. See less
