From the direct source of acquisition- an estate sale: this sake cup is a high end piece which was explained to me almost always has a 950 silver content as opposed to the slightly lesser worldwide standard of 925 sterling- meaning it is a purer grade of sterling silver. I have included pictures of Google translate revealing the translation of some of the inscriptions on the bottom of the cup and on the box. The ones Google successfully translated stated 'sterling silver' for one, Yamaguchi Prefecture for another and 'silver cup' for yet another.
There are other inscriptions on the cup itself, but I had less success with translation with those. But I included the pictures for your possible use.

It weighs 3.2 ounces ( picture included of weight ).

As to the age, It is hard to tell definitively, but I am using late 20th century as the loose time frame of manufacture considering the contour of the sake cup, the look, feel and quality of the box and the quality of the thick, flat cord-like purple ribbon.

The condition is very good to excellent. There is very minor wear on the cup interior from cleaning/polishing. See pictures for details See less
