Pair of Colonial Williamsburg (CW 10), Sapphire Glass Hurricane Shades made by Royal Leerdam of the Netherlands.
Shades stand approximately 18" (actual height is 17-3/4" tall with an inside diameter of the base measuring 5-5/8".
Each hurricane shade was off hand blown by Royal Leerdam glass blowers, so there may be slight variations in the shades.
Originally used to shield candles from wind and drafts, these lovely hurricane shades are size adaptations of a graceful antique that was used in the upstairs hall at the Governor's Palace. (Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia).
Rare sapphire color. Off Handblown by Royal Leerdam artisans. No cracks, chips or flea bites. These were in my mother’s interior design studio. I would keep them, but she gifted me a duplicate pair.
