designer uno & östen kristiansson two famous swedish designer brothers, active mainly in the mid-20th century. Born in 1925 and 1927 respectively, they distinguished themselves for their contributions to scandinavian design, particularly in the fields of lighting and mirrors. In 1950 uno founded the luxus company in vittsjö, sweden, and soon involved östen as well. Luxus became known for producing lamps, mirrors and furniture that combined modern aesthetics and everyday functionality. Their style reflected the principles of nordic modernism: clean lines, natural materials, and attention to detail. The brothers often worked with teak, but they also experimented with innovative materials such as glass, acrylic, and plastic. Their lamps were characterized by soft shapes and sophisticated plays of light, while their mirrors-often with curved wooden frames-are now highly sought-after objects by collectors.
